If AGI is here already, why do we not see the benefits? General intelligence has always been available. The difficulty is that "super intelligence" which is what is necessary for medicine, law, science. E.g. in drug discovery AI needs to compete with a conference room of PhDs.

IMO AGI is already here, including in open-source. This muddying is basically just large-scale confusion. Startups not accepting OpenAI was first and did it already. Legislation avoidance and obfuscation. No clear scientific/invention credit. Commentators needing the horserace.

Lemme break down the OAI drama. Simultaneously, they (OpenAI, employees) want to be first to "invent" AGI and they (OpenAI, employees, Microsoft) want to collect the rents from AI. So they keep teasing that they "basically, nearly" invented, because when they do -- party over.

Drug discovery is inherently out of distribution. Predictive AI brings into distribution as much of the intermediate steps as possible. But one can’t forget those out of distribution steps.
