@SturnioloSimone @roydanroy It would seem very peculiar to say that Claude3 (some burst of state over some data center) is self-aware necessarily because there is some mapping of electrons to tokens to English? Where does the “self” of Claude 3 begin and end and where does human language pick up?

@SturnioloSimone @roydanroy Doesn’t seem very aware to me. We only ascribe awareness because we turn the tokens into English. But then does its very awareness depend on the fact that English has meaning? Otherwise every single electron zap is certainly meaningless if it wasn’t already.
