RT @sdamico: We’re closing in on “humanoid hobbyists” at the level of early 2010s quadcopter hobbyists.

AI will have extended our QALYs significantly before quote AGI unquote is achieved.

@timschlomi This is probably part of why everyone is so darn focused on AI software engineers. But I think the economic value comes not intrinsically from the software itself but from connecting the software to the world. But you can’t do that from ONLY behind the computer screen.

@timschlomi I mean this line goes more into the AI art stuff and AI service worker stuff and AI relationship stuff that might be distracting but yeah. A lot of AI supremacy there is predicated on AI being a better human than humans

@timschlomi I mean you need a credit card if you want to buy cloud stuff. You need to be able to click on stuff, reboot the computer. You need access to codebases, privileges to make changes. Someone to pay for your energy costs Devices for testing Phone # for OpenAI account etc

@timschlomi No I am merely reminding us of all the tasks that AI can do intelligently that we have moved the goalposts past and are now forgetting to include in our description of “general”. We can’t just keep excluding tasks once AI can do them! That obviously brings down the percentage

@timschlomi No I mean on an island if you threw Stephen hawking on it (without any of his equipment) and said. Wow Dr. Hawking you aren’t very economically useful, you wouldn’t conclude, dr. Hawking is missing important cognitive skills.

@timschlomi Population of humans to those who can do those tasks very well, then sure, AI is not generally as good at that restricted set of humans on that restricted set of tasks. But I mean that is severely torturing the definition of artificial **general** intelligence.
