@timschlomi Both, but I would say that it’s not always clear what “actual guilt” means, and I wouldn’t be so quick to say it’s judges and juries being capricious maybe it’s different value systems.

@timschlomi Just that if the best trial lawyers don't efficiently know how trials are going to go (which is precisely what is acknowledged when we say that plea deals are bad because of risk) then we will not be able to make a machine that can do so. This happens with a lot of 'AI4Science'

@timschlomi Yes, I agree with that, but my contention is that such a system would drive enormous amounts of cases to trial. Obviously it's dependent on how accurate the model (prediction market is).

@timschlomi Very rich. Though I think that this question of rich people GOJF is very dependent on how "ideal" the system is. Allowing for automatic trial triggers beyond the 1% probably mitigates this
